Costume, stage and puppet design for a production based on Tarjei Vesaas’s novel The Seed

My stage, costume and puppet design for a production based on Tarjei Vesaas’s novel The Seed is a project of a puppet show for an adult viewer. The degree project was an opportunity to see how a puppet can convey difficult and deep message in theatre.

The Seed is a history of social lynch on a small island. I decided that the production would be a flashback recalled by characters using dolls. They are an instrument needed to represent polyphony and multilayered nature of events, but also provide space to depict the characters’ relationships with their inner selves and to address the issue of loneliness within a community.
