Furnitype

My project resulted from reflection on the relationships between typography understood as setting and typeface of graphic signs and the design of utility forms, especially skeleton furniture. The basis of the project was an analysis of both domains, viewing one through the other, understanding their connections and comparing design processes. As a result of these searches, a series of objects was created – sketches of a chair in space – a sort of construction alphabet.

An important aspect of the project was the clash with the user. The moment when the sign ceases to be an abstract symbol and is transferred to the world of objects, takes on the utility form and begins to operate in some relation to man. My project Furnitype is also a voice in the discussion on the essence of design, how its boundaries expand and overlap, and how the form is shaped.
