Constant, Exact, Eternal

Constant, Exact, Eternal is a video installation addressing the issue of increasing nationalism in Europe. On separate screenings I present places considered to be the Geographical Centre of Europe; since the eighteenth century at least six such points have been set, and in each of them there is a statue declaring that that place is the proper one. Although each is in a different country and they are hundreds of miles apart, basically nothing happens in any of the Centres of Europe, there is virtually nothing there. Places vary, of course, in terms of landscape, but their spirit is surprisingly similar – as if suspended in time.
