Conservation of Saint George and the Dragon (late 19th century) icon from the Museum of Warsaw Orthodox Metropolitanate
My degree project which consisted in conservation of the nineteenth-century icon Saint George and the Dragon was an opportunity to deepen my knowledge both in conservation and the history and art of the Orthodox Church. An important issue was for me to define the boundaries of conservation interventions in a work of art. In my work I sought a compromise between decisive actions aimed at stopping the destruction of the object, and preserving the authenticity of the work and its rich history.
